What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?

Our apprenticeships give you the opportunity to become skilled in your role and combine on-the-job learning and academic study, where you’ll spend approximately 20% of your working hours completing learning with one of our training providers. At the end of the programme, you’ll receive a nationally recognised qualification.

Radio Engineer Apprentice

If you’re passionate about technology and driving innovation, our Radio Engineer Apprenticeship will be the perfect place to start your career. Grow your potential while supporting us on our mission of optimising all our sites and earn a starting salary of £30,000 whilst doing it.

Radio Planner Apprentice

Our Radio Planners are responsible for delivering the network improvement plans across dedicated sites, through the use of our innovative radio planning technology. Grow your potential as a Radio Planner Apprentice and join our close-knit team in planning nationwide radio networks, earning a starting salary of £30,000 whilst doing it.

Project Management Apprentice

Join the team responsible for coordinating mobile network growth through upgrades to infrastructure, enhancing our network and improving the user experience for every one of our customers across the UK. Applying for our Apprenticeships

    We’ve worked hard to make every stage of application fair and inclusive. So, you can trust you’re being seen for your skills, strengths and motivation – nothing more, nothing less.

    Our application process is super simple and consistent across all schemes, with the key difference being the deadlines – so be sure to keep track of the date for the scheme you’re interested in.

    The first step is an online application form. We don’t ask for CVs as part of our commitment to inclusive hiring. Instead, we focus on your potential, assessing your strengths, values and motivations.

    The online assessment, designed to be completed in under 5 minutes, measures the strengths necessary for success in early careers at Virgin Media O2. No extensive preparation is needed – in fact, it’s better to go in with an open mind and to be prepared to trust your instincts.

    During the telephone interview, you will learn more about the role and we may confirm some details you gave on your application to ensure they are still accurate. We will then ask some questions about your motivations for the role and your personal strengths. We want this to be a two-way process so at the end, we’ll give you the chance to ask any questions you may have too!

    The telephone interview will last for around 20 minutes and will be conducted by one of our friendly assessors.

    To help you prepare for the next step, at an Assessment Centre, we hold mandatory coaching calls. These calls take place with the Future Careers Team to give you a few tips for the Assessment Centre. This will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have ahead of the day.

    The final step in the process is to attend one of our Assessment Centres. This consists of multiple tasks including a group exercise, an individual exercise and an interview.
