PROJECT POSITIVE

Supporting care experienced young people in Hertfordshire to access apprenticeships

Project Positive

Project Positive is an exciting new project launching in Hertfordshire aimed at supporting young care experienced individuals to access employment through apprenticeships.

Amazing Apprenticeships are working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, the Hertfordshire Virtual School, Hertfordshire LEP and ELSA Next Generation CIC, to tackle some of the challenges that care experienced young people face in accessing opportunities, and to work with employers and training providers to provide high-quality apprenticeship opportunities for Hertfordshire’s care experienced young people.

Why is it needed?

We know that young people with care experience are facing additional barriers and are already being disadvantaged when it comes to accessing employment or education opportunities. Young people with care experience are three times more likely not to be in education, employment or training (NEET) than other young people, with the latest Department for Education figures showing that 39% of care leavers aged 19-21 are not in employment, education or training, compared to 13% of those in the same age group.

what will be offered?

We have developed a unique programme for Hertfordshire that will establish a collaborative framework, bringing employers, training providers and apprentices together.
