We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we provide a hybrid working model that allows apprentices to blend remote work with the office experience. This flexibility not only accommodates personal circumstances but also fosters productivity and job satisfaction.

Supporting Your Apprenticeship Journey

Apprentices are valued members of our team, and we strive to make your apprenticeship a rewarding experience. Every apprentice is paired with a buddy who will support them during their initial months, helping them settle into their role. We take a holistic approach to supporting our apprentices, offering resources on topics like money management, office etiquette, and much more. Our former apprentices are also always eager to share their advice and tips on making the most of your apprenticeship.

Have a Real Impact on Local Communities

Working at Surrey County Council means you are part of an organisation that makes a difference. Our apprentices engage in meaningful projects that directly benefit the local community, allowing them to see the impact of their work first-hand and fostering a sense of purpose.

Early Careers Network

Our Early Career Network is a dynamic community where apprentices can connect, share experiences, and offer mutual support. This initiative fosters a sense of belonging and collaboration, empowering young professionals to grow together and develop valuable networking skills.

Searching for Our Apprenticeships

You can search for apprenticeships on the SCC Jobs site, or directly on our recruitment hub, where you can also set up job alerts to notify you when any new opportunities related to your search arise.

Applying for our Apprenticeships

  1. Start

  2. 1

Create an account on our recruitment hub to set up your profile. You can also create your account at the point of applying for a role that you have found on our website. Once you have selected a role you would like to apply for, you can fill out the online application form, where you’ll share information about your education, experience and interests.

Make sure you read the advert and job description to ensure you meet any criteria the hiring manager will be looking for. Once you have submitted your completed application, we’ll reach out to discuss your outcome and the next steps.

  3. 2

If your application meets the criteria outlined in the advert and job description, you will be invited to an interview. Interview questions will be provided in advance so you are able to plan your answers. Interviews may be held in person or virtually.

Tip: Prepare examples with your answers. These examples could represent your school, extracurricular, home or work life. Each question will be scored and the highest scoring candidate will be offered the role. For example, if you are asked a time you worked well in a team, provide an example from your personal or professional life as evidence of your answer.

  4. 3

Following your interview, you will be contacted with the outcome and will be provided with feedback.

If you are successful, you will be sent a contract including details of your salary, hours and work location. The team will also check if any reasonable adjustments are required. You will be asked to provide your personal details including eligibility to work (your passport), bank details, reference information and depending on the role, initiate a DBS check.  Once your pre-employment checks are completed, you will be contacted to arrange your start date.

Before you start you may be invited to meet the team and spend some time in the workplace to give you a chance to get a feel of the role.

Our application form and onboarding process will provide an opportunity to request any reasonable adjustments for the interview and/or the role.
