Amazing Apprenticeships SEND Advisory Group goes into its third successful year

Amazing Apprenticeships established the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Advisory Group in 2020 to share expertise and information with colleagues working with young people in a wide variety of settings.  Attended by teachers, careers advisers and careers leads, SEND Co-ordinators, training providers, charities, JCP representatives and others, the meetings are a chance for Amazing Apprenticeships to share resources and ideas, as well as gather invaluable feedback and insights from experienced people across sectors.

Guest speakers have always been a popular feature and this month we were lucky enough to hear from Steve Latus, Head of Traineeships at the Department for Education. Steve spoke about the future of traineeships and how they will be integrated into the Study Programme and Adult Education Budget. He also shared that any provider with access to Study Programme Funding and AEB funding can offer all the elements of a traineeship (work preparation, functional skills, occupational learning and qualifications and work experience) and that they are working with providers to ensure that traineeship opportunities are signposted to young people.

The meeting ended with a video message from Anna Morrison, Director of Amazing Apprenticeships, asking members for support in shaping a new Amazing Apprenticeships’ film and set of resources about apprentices with a learning difference or disability.

If you would like to be part of the SEND Advisory Group, offer support for the film and resources, or know any current apprentices with a learning disability or difference who would like to feature in the film, please contact Helen Twomey, Schools and Resources Manager at Amazing Apprenticeships: helen@amazingapprenticeships.com
