On the 7th December, 22 local teachers and careers advisers visited the flagship Distribution Depot in Stoke for a unique behind-the-scenes visit and to hear about the many different roles involved in Dunelm logistics.
Teachers, careers advisers and stakeholders attended the day, where they heard from Dunelm’s Early Careers Manager, Resourcing Manager, Supply Chain Projects Manager and Head of Logistics to learn more about the brilliant apprenticeship opportunities they offer and why Dunelm are a great apprenticeship employer, so that they can take that information back to inspire their students about the amazing apprenticeship opportunities available to them locally.
The delegates also took a tour of the Distribution Centre and met different teams and apprentices along the way to hear about their experiences and roles.
Sunita Fellows, Early Career Manager at Dunelm, said:
“It’s been so brilliant to welcome our local schools to join us this morning for a look behind the scenes. We find that careers information about logistics can sometimes feel confusing, so to be able to show and inspire teachers in person has been really impactful. I hope they will take their new knowledge back to their schools to inspire potential apprentices”.
When asked if the visit would help the students at her school, Careers Adviser Annabel Gears from Adelaide School in Crewe replied “100%, I wish I could bring all of my students here to see it. A lot of our kids are really technology focussed, so to know that there are roles that could really link to their interests is brilliant”.
Amazing Apprenticeships will be working with Dunelm to host another visit to their Leicestershire Head Office for more schools and colleges in January 2024, so that more students and individuals in the local area can learn of the excellent apprenticeship opportunities available to them.
