Applying for our Apprenticeships
-
Start
-
1
Before you begin your application, take time to research the scheme and role that you feel suits you best for the stage you’re at in your career journey.
-
2
For our apprenticeship roles, you are not required to upload a cover letter or CV.
You will need to complete an online application form where you will be asked for information about yourself to check if you are eligible for the scheme and find out more about your motivation for applying.
-
3
If you’re eligible for the scheme you have applied for, you will be invited to take part in a short interactive assessment. This could include strength-based questions, situational judgement exercises, or coding tasks depending on what role you are applying for. Before your assessment, you will be given time to practise some questions.
-
4
At this stage, we want to find out more about you, your strengths and your motivation for applying to be an apprentice at the BBC. Most of the questions will require you to record a video response, with some requiring a written response. Don’t worry though as you will have the opportunity to get familiar with recording your responses. You will also be able to re-record your responses. Some of our technical roles will not require you to complete a video interview.
-
5
The final stage of our process is an assessment centre, which is usually held virtually. This involves a series of exercises such as a group exercise and an interview, designed to give you the best chance to show us what you’re capable of, as well as your motivation for joining the BBC, the role and the scheme. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet BBC staff and ask any questions.
For some schemes, you will be asked to complete a pre-assessment task ahead of the day, or you may be invited to attend a virtual interview.
-
6
If you are successful, we will make you an offer to join us in September of that year. Between your offer and your start date, our schemes team will be in contact with you to let you know everything you need ahead of your first day at the BBC. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with others joining our schemes and get any questions you have answered.

What our apprentices do!

“I Had the opportunity to pitch, produce, write, research and film my own original story on a topic I’m passionate about. Having it out there in the world for people to see was a highlight for me.”

“Before I joined BBC Sport, I was excited but nervous. My team gave me plenty of support. My first project was looking at how we increase user engagement with football line-ups and revamping the visuals. As a massive football fan, I felt right at home!”

“From starting the application process, it was quickly evident that my working class background would never be a barrier. My potential was the only thing that mattered. There is lots of support here to ensure everyone feels included. There’s definitely no ‘typical’ BBC employee.”
