Apprenticeships Details

Engineering Apprenticeship: what’s involved?

During your apprenticeship, you will be:

  • Based at one of our nationwide manufacturing sites (other than your college stay).
  • Enjoying college life and staying away from home for up to 20 weeks in year 1 and for between 4 and 8 weeks in subsequent years. Alternatively, some Hovis apprentices attend college on a day release basis if geographically able to do so.
  • Studying and training in a cohort with other apprentices from across our network.
  • Covering various aspects of Engineering and will have the opportunity to gain an Apprenticeship Standard level 3 qualification and a level 3 Diploma in Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance.
  • Visiting other UK manufacturing sites and developing the technical, professional and behavioural skills needed to be successful.

Applying for our Apprenticeships

    Take some time to reflect that this apprenticeship role and the associated career path are a good fit for you. Please carefully review the job description, the qualifications needed to apply, and the details about the learning, training and work involved. Does it match your skills, experience, and career aspirations?

    Once you’re happy that the role is for you then it’s time to complete your online Hovis Apprentice application. You will receive an automatic response on receipt (6th Jan – 24th Feb).

    Hovis will read all applications and may potentially call you for some additional information (11th Jan – 24th Feb).

    If your application is suitable, you will be contacted by a member of the Hovis Talent Acquisition team to arrange and conduct a 30 minute telephone interview.

    The next step is an in person interview and tour at one of our manufacturing sites (between 1st – 28th Feb).

    Final selections are made the week beginning 10th March.

  7. 6

    Offers are made to successful applicants from the week beginning 17th March and feedback provided to unsuccessful applicants . Following this, you’ll receive a formal contract of employment and be guided through the next steps of your journey with Hovis, including any necessary background checks and register you with the apprenticeship programme training provider.

    Successful applicants will start their apprenticeships with Hovis from 26th August.
