Opportunities from day one

Our apprenticeship programmes are permanent positions. We’ll support your development and help you build your new career from the day you start. You’ll learn how to network across a national organisation, use different technologies to help millions of customers and join volunteering initiatives, as well as learn from experienced business leaders who’ll inspire you to develop as a person and a professional. Whether you’ve just left school, or need a career change, we want to hear from you.

Discover your passion

We offer a wide range of opportunities from:

  • Financial
  • Data
  • Customer Services
  • Cyber
  • Digital & Technology roles

Regardless of the role that best fits for you, you will be stretched and challenged and have the platform to influence critical business decisions. And of course, we’ll help you study for an industry-recognised qualification during work time.

Learning and development

We’ve created engaging and interactive development programmes. These sessions will equip you with tools and techniques to help you make an impact, developing skills that will help you on your programme and serve you well throughout your career journey. You can also work towards an industry-recognised qualification that will take your career to the next level, and we’ll foot the bill for your studies.

Rewards and benefits

We know that people do their best work when they feel happy and valued. Which is why we offer a friendly and inclusive working environment with lots of great benefits. Aside from earning a minimum salary of £22,000 from day one, our benefits have been carefully chosen to support your lifestyle, health, wellbeing and finances. You can choose the benefits that best suit your needs and even switch them up as your circumstances change.

We want everyone here to have a healthy work-life balance, so there’s a great holiday allowance to help you achieve it. You’ll start with a minimum of 22 days holiday, rising to a maximum of 30 days based on how long you work with us and the grade of your role. And what’s more, you also get bank holidays in addition to your allowance, and you’ll have the opportunity to ‘buy’ or ‘sell’ the equivalent of a week’s holiday through our ‘Flex’ scheme.

Diversity and inclusion

As a Group, we’re guided on how we do things by a clear set of values. Part of that involves creating a supportive environment for all our colleagues that is truly representative of modern-day Britain.

We’re committed to providing an inclusive workplace for colleagues with disabilities, long-term health and/or neurodiverse conditions and providing accessible and inclusive products and services to better support our customers with disabilities.

We’re making steady progress since the launch of our Race Action Plan, which serves to drive cultural change, recruitment and progression across the Group, aiming to increase the ethnic diversity of our workforce and unlock the potential of our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic colleagues. Similarly, we’re making good progress across the Group to drive proportionate gender diversity.

We’re committed to providing a safe and supportive working environment for all colleagues and the way in which they wish to express their sexual and gender identity.

Our colleague networks help us in our aim to create an inclusive working environment and exist to help colleagues reach their full potential. Each network has a different focus and is run by volunteers who feel as passionately about inclusion as we do. All our networks are open to everyone and offer a range of opportunities and events, including mentoring, career development, networking and access to role models.

Apprenticeships Details

Technology Engineering apprenticeships

We wouldn’t be the UK’s largest provider of digital financial products if we didn’t deliver a great online experience. That’s why, whether they’re the people who use our products or the colleagues that run our business, our Technology Engineers pride themselves on always putting their customer first.

As a Technology Engineering apprentice, you’ll learn how to develop user-focused solutions from our industry-leading experts. You’ll help design and build new services as well as run and maintain our vast systems. And all the time, you’ll be working with the latest technologies and adopting the most up-to-date practices. If you’ve got a logical mind, as well as creative ways of thinking, a love for technology and a passion for solving problems, this could be the perfect way to build a career that will always keep you learning.

Risk, Audit and Data apprenticeships

As the UK’s largest retail and commercial financial services provider, keeping our millions of customers protected couldn’t be more important. By keeping up with industry developments, identifying threats and offering advice, our Risk teams are the difference in making that happen. Join them as an apprentice and you could be too.

Risk – There are a wide range of roles that help us assess and manage risks like market instability, cyber-attacks, and financial crime. However, it’s not all looking out for threats. It’s also modelling, reporting, and monitoring regulatory risks, as well as supporting customers in financial difficulties. If you’re an innovative problem solver with an eye for detail, who loves nothing more than working within a team to make a difference, this could be the ideal opportunity to kick-start a career you’ll love.

Data – From data extraction to learning statistical programming languages to creating great data products, you’ll cover all the fundamentals of data analysis and how to communicate the stories within it. Meaning after around 18 months, you’ll know how to extract, manipulate, model, visualise and present data to provide useful insights into our business.

Audit – Throughout your programme, you’ll work to become a qualified, chartered internal auditor, learning how to evaluate our risk management, governance, measures and controls and suggest ways they can be improved. Which means you won’t only build the skills for an impactful career, you’ll be helping to influence the way Lloyds Banking Group operates too.

Finance apprenticeships

Our Finance teams play an incredibly important role in the success of Lloyds Banking Group. From creating controls that help us manage the risks we face, to ensuring we’re delivering against the regulations of our industry, they help our teams do the right thing for both our business and our customers. And considering we have over 26 million of them, it’s quite a responsibility.

Join our Finance team and you can help make this difference, while working towards a future as a qualified chartered accountant. Get all the training, support, and experience you need to establish a promising career. And be part of helping our business operate in even more secure, sustainable, and successful ways.

Cyber and Information Communications apprenticeships

As the largest provider of digital financial products in the UK, it’s our responsibility to make sure the information our customers give us is as well-protected as their money. But the fact that the threats we face are constantly evolving, means it’s a fast-changing one too. That’s why we’re building the Bank of the Future and developing the next generation of Digital Banking solutions that will be secure by design.

Information Communications Technician apprentice – discover how cutting-edge IT systems for our Group are installed, secured, and maintained. Your training will be custom delivered by Firebrand, where you’ll learn how to tackle system faults, keep network equipment in tip-top shape, install, commission and craft seamless networks like a pro.

Cyber apprentice – develop new controls, enhancing existing ones, and helping us explore innovative ways technology can protect us against threats. As well as learning the theory behind cyber security, you’ll discover the technical, analytical, and evaluation skills needed in all areas of digital forensic investigation. This includes ethical hacking, intrusion, detection, data recovery and security systems. What’s more, you’ll work within a team that’s leading the way in this fast-growing and dynamic field.

Customer Services and HR apprenticeships

Customer Services – Across Lloyds Banking Group, we have a wide range of roles that work to give our customers the best possible experience – whether that’s helping people with their mortgages, accounts and savings or supporting businesses with their financial needs.

If you’re passionate about people and driven by the desire to make a difference, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Join us as an apprentice and you’ll play an important part in helping the customers we serve move forward and prosper, just as we’ll help you and your career do the same.

HR – Our people make Lloyds Banking Group everything it is. They’re the ones making the difference to the lives of our colleagues, customers, and wider communities. As a HR Apprentice, you’ll help us ensure every part of their experience at Lloyds Banking Group is the best it can be. And that they’re inspired and equipped to help deliver our purpose of Helping Britain Prosper.

What our apprentices do!

Jake

“I always knew I wanted to work in finance. I didn’t really want to go to university, because I felt that going straight to a full-time job would be better suited for me. I learn a lot quicker and a lot more effectively when I’m actually doing work, rather than just learning about it. I thought Lloyds Banking Group would be the place for me to develop, I’ll be a fully qualified accountant by the end of my apprenticeship, without having to pay for anything.
As an apprentice at Lloyds Banking Group, you’re viewed as part of the team. There can be a reputation, even a stigma, about apprentices being the people who go and get tea and coffee for the ‘real’ workers. But that’s not the case here. Nobody is treated differently; the only difference is that apprentices have time to do our study day once a week. Apart from that, you’re getting the same amount of experience.”

Becky

“The world we’re living in is technology-focused, and the capabilities of data are always growing. I’m now on the Data Analyst scheme, working out of the Chief Digital Office. We look at our customers’ online journeys and find opportunities for optimization to make their experience easier. We get right into the details of how our customers bank online — if we want to know how many customers applied for online banking services in March, for example, we could go into the code and extract that data to get a better understanding of what our customers need.
When I first joined, Lloyds Banking Group made me feel really comfortable. During the application I was told, ‘You don’t need to have any prior knowledge, we will teach you everything.’ And it’s true. Everyone is so supportive”

“I’ve always enjoyed maths and science subjects — on the whole, I’ve always been quite good with numbers, analysis and problem solving. I also developed an interest in economics over time as I learned more about finance, politics and global affairs. It turns out that these interests have made me very suited for my current role in Internal Audit.
Every day is different, and I appreciate how collaborative it is. You work closely with your team, and you get to be hands-on, because the work itself requires a lot of attention to detail. I particularly like the part of the process where you get to investigate and really figure out what is happening in a case.
When my cohort started, our managers asked each of us what we’re good at and what we enjoy, and they then adapted our education for each of us as individuals, which I found really beneficial. It means I can play to my strengths and improve in other areas at the same time.”

Elliot

“I joined Lloyds Banking Group as an apprentice right after college with my A levels. When I came across the listing for the apprenticeship that I’m on now, in Risk, I knew it was the perfect opportunity. I feel fortunate to be here, and I’m proud to say that my apprenticeship is going really well.
In my day-to-day, I pick up business applications that are ready for review and reach out to the client directly to get some additional information. These are things like their personal information and any relevant business information, like ownership and trade details. I then report on that and connect the dots. I love being able to have that kind of contact with clients and learn more about them.
Personal development is the most important thing to me right now. Although I am extremely focused on my career and making sure that I have the best career I can, what comes first is my personal development. As long as I’m learning and improving myself, I’m happy. As a result of me progressing and developing, I know I’ll receive more opportunities.”
