Moving on up: WHo are we?
Moving On Up is a collaboration of like-minded organisations who are working to support an increase in care experienced young people accessing apprenticeships.
We are working with the apprenticeship sector to encourage everyone to recognise the unique circumstances of care experienced young people, and to build support into the programme design. This includes:
- Working with government to tackle challenges within the apprenticeship system that cause barriers to young people, employers and providers being able to take up or offer apprenticeships.
- Increasing the number of ring-fenced vacancies that are created to support care-experienced young people to access meaningful employment through an apprenticeship.
- Helping employers and training providers to access training and development that leads to them being trauma and attachment aware, and proactive in identifying where greater support and flexibilities could be included into the programmes that they offer.
- Encouraging more care-experienced apprentices to share their stories and inspire others to see the positive benefits of apprenticeships.

The Network will provide a central place where anyone who wants to develop their knowledge and understanding of how we can help more care experienced individuals to access apprenticeships can join to learn and share.
- No membership costs
- 4 online meetings per year
- Thought provoking discussions and sharing ‘what works’
- Access to free resources
The aim is to help to increase awareness in the barriers and challenges that can face care experienced individuals when trying to access and progress through apprenticeships, and to inspire members to take action, reflect on their own processes and share their learnings with their wider networks.
