Benefits & Staff Support

All Thames Valley Police employees are entitled to a benefits package including a local government pension scheme, holiday entitlement and childcare voucher scheme. Our benefits portal, accessible via a downloadable app, also means our people have greater access to discounts from retailers, restaurants, travel, tickets and much more.

Supporting all staff to ensure they can fulfil their role successfully and to the best of their ability is vitally important. We have an established Personal Development & Leadership programme with regular appraisals taking place for officers and staff – we have continued to offer promotion opportunities to officers every year despite austerity and cut-backs.

Our Employee Wellbeing function is vital and we provide additional support networks for under-represented groups within our force, including:

  • Disability Support Network
  • LGBT+
  • SAME (Support Assoc. for Minority Ethnic Staff)
  • Women’s Network
  • Muslim Police Association
  • Gypsy Roma Traveller Police Association

PRE-REGISTER FOR 2019 opportunities

In 2019 we will be opening applications for our new Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) programme, and our Police Community Support Officer apprenticeship. We are inviting applicants with a passion for the work we do to pre-register their interest in applying for these programmes via our Talent Bank tool – click here to register yourself now.

Valuing Diversity

Thames Valley Police recognises values and celebrates diversity. To date, BME employees have only represented 5% of our total workforce, whilst ethnicity within our region is now around 15%.

So, whilst our region may be increasingly diverse, our force currently isn’t – we aspire and are working hard towards achieving a workforce that truly reflects the communities we serve.

It is only through diversity that we can develop new views, approaches and solutions to the challenging social issues we face every day.

Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley is the largest non-metropolitan police force in the UK. We serve Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire – a diverse area which includes large urban and rural spaces.

As a Force we are established yet progressive in our approach, offering rewarding and exciting opportunities. Above all we are people-focused.

We value apprenticeships across both police officer and staff roles. Find out more now.
