Benefits & Staff Support

All Thames Valley Police employees are entitled to a benefits package including a local government pension scheme, holiday entitlement and childcare voucher scheme. Our benefits portal also means our people have greater access to discounts from retailers, restaurants, travel, tickets and much more.

Supporting all staff to ensure they can fulfil their role successfully and to the best of their ability is vitally important. We have an established Personal Development & Leadership programme with regular appraisals taking place for officers and staff – we have continued to offer promotion opportunities to officers every year despite austerity and cut-backs.

Our Employee Wellbeing function is vital and we provide additional support networks for under-represented groups within our force, including:

  • Menopause Action Group
  • Disability Support Network
  • LGBT+
  • SAME (Support Assoc. for Minority Ethnic Staff)
  • Women’s Network & Men’s Network
  • Muslim Police Association
  • Gypsy Roma Traveller Police Association

Officers and staff also have the opportunity to join the national Blue Light Card scheme which offers discounts on a variety of products and services to those working in the emergency services, NHS and Armed Forces.

Valuing Difference

Every individual at TVP matters. Everyone has an important role to play and makes a difference. Collectively we work together to achieve our commitment of making all communities within the Thames Valley safer and more secure.

Different people bring different perspectives which help us develop better understanding and learning, leading to new ideas and solutions to the challenging social issues that we face on a daily basis.

We aspire and are working hard towards having a police force that truly reflects the communities we serve. Our region is increasingly diverse and it is important our workforce reflects this, ensuring our officers, staff and volunteers are approachable and relatable to our communities.

MEET OUR POSITIVE ACTION & ENGAGEMENT TEAM

TVP’s Positive Action and Engagement Team (PAET) focuses on building engagement in under–represented communities and encouraging people from ethnically diverse backgrounds to consider a career in policing.

As well as focusing on outreach work in the communities, the team supports and encourages applicants through the recruitment process and works to improve retention by supporting ethnically diverse student officers already in force with sign-posting to mentoring, coaching and support.
