Apprenticeship Programme
To join our Apprenticeship programme you must be employed by a practice. Depending on your qualifications and experience we can advise if the Level 2 or Level 3 is the most appropriate course for you.
Level 2 Veterinary Care Support Assistant
Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare
While working in Practice you will enjoy a varied role, learning a range of skills from providing exceptional service to our clients and their pets, providing a link between clients and the clinical team and looking after the animals in our care.
You will have regular practical progress reviews with your Training assessor and be assigned a mentor in Practice. You will complete your training online and in practice so it is a very flexible delivery model that complements the work you do in practice. Completing the level 2 will stand you in good stead to progress to the level 3 Vet Nurse apprenticeship
Level 3 Veterinary Nurse Apprenticeship
You will be employed within a veterinary practice and with most Training Partners attend college 1 day a week. This 1 day a week is part of the 20% Off the Job Training that you must complete as part of your Apprenticeship.
There is a range of assessments throughout the course including on-line examinations, assignments, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), a Professional Discussion and completion of your E-portfolio. Whilst employed in a Veterinary Practice you will have a clinical supervisor, along with a tutor assigned to you from your training partner
Successful completion of this qualification and the successful achievement of your End Point Assessment (EPA) will enable you to complete your Apprenticeship and become a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) on the register held by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
