Checkatrade and Amazing Apprenticeships Launch New Try a Trade Programme

Checkatrade, in partnership with Amazing Apprenticeships, have launched the Try a Trade programme, a new, free careers programme for schools which aims to inspire students about apprenticeships and careers in domestic trades.

The programme aims to help plug a national trade skills gap of almost one million workers over the next decade, by connecting young people with a world of limitless possibilities in a trades career.

Through the programme, Checkatrade are helping school students in Years 10 and 11 (also suitable for sixth form students) to discover more about careers in the trades, providing teachers and careers advisers with a hub of exciting resources and content to share as part of their careers programme, as well as first-hand access to people already working in trades.

Checkatrade will be working with training providers, partners and trade SMEs to help to connect students to real-world possibilities and vacancies, as well as provide access to a dedicated jobs platform. Students will be able to search for live trades vacancies, including apprenticeships alongside opportunities such as work experience, placements/internships, T Levels and work opportunities to help to develop their employability and get exposure to the construction sector.

Amazing Apprenticeships are proud to work in partnership with Checkatrade and support the development of the resources and programme. We are delighted that over 500 schools have signed up since the programme launched nationally in July.
