The class of 2024 joined together on Wednesday 13th March to celebrate the completion of the Genie Programme. Celebrations started at The Ritzy, where delegates received their certificates for completing the 12-month diversity and inclusion programme. Delegates and their guests heard from Laura Bruce, Deputy Director of the Social Mobility Commission, about the work of the Social Mobility Commission and some of their forthcoming initiatives.
The group were praised by Anna Morrison CBE, founder and director of Amazing Apprenticeships for their hard work and commitment to the programme, “Every single person on the programme has fully embraced the opportunity to be part of this year’s community of change, and it has been so powerful. The sharing of best practice, the challenge, the creativity and the courage shown by the cohort to really push for changes within their organisation has been phenomenal to see. Each and every one of them should be extremely proud of what they have achieved”.
The delegates finished the day at The Clink Charity at Brixton Prison for an amazing lunch, also hearing from students at the restaurant about the challenges they face in gaining employment upon release and what employers can do to support this disadvantaged group.
The Genie Programme is a ground-breaking 12-month programme designed to empower motivated apprenticeships professionals to explore the issues impacting social mobility, explore the approaches to the organisation’s own social mobility and D&I challenges, and affect measurable change in how the organisation attracts, retains and develops diverse talent.
