Amazing Apprenticeships are proud to have supported the Sutton Trust Summer School 2023. Now in its fourth year, the Summer School is an incredible three-day event, where students in year 12 and 13 have the opportunity to explore the benefits of apprenticeships, and to meet and engage with experts to help guide them on their apprenticeship journey.
The AA team supported day 2, which commenced with a presentation by Lucy Springett, Projects and Partnerships Manager at Amazing Apprenticeships, who set the scene for apprenticeships, explaining the breadth of opportunity that apprenticeships can offer. Students then heard from our own apprentice, Alicia, who is currently completing an Advanced Digital Marketing apprenticeship. Alicia’s aim was to inspire, inform and enthuse the audience of 120 students to consider apprenticeships as a credible option, and to be confident in their next steps – we think she did brilliantly!
Following the presentation, the students divided into breakout groups for a variety of interactive workshops that encouraged them to think about the different questions that they would ask of parents, students, employers and apprentices. The best question earned a prize, and the competition was fierce with many of the groups determined to win. Top questions included, “What are the long-term career benefits of apprenticeships?”, “What sets you apart as an employer?”, and “How do you balance a degree and work?”
